International cinema and the girl

A new book published by aclaimed academics and edited by Fiona Handyside and Kate Taylor-Jones, has a whole chapter dedicated to the Tony Hickson film Where's Mary? The 2005 film is about Mary Bell and at the time created controversy on Tyneside. Tony used puppets and 16mm black and white film and shot on an old 1950s clockwork camera, this added a surreal and ethereal element to the film.
